By Thomas Whittle

French President Francois Hollande was officially greeted by Poland’s President Bronislaw Komorowski here on Friday, during the discussion of the 2014-2020 European Union (EU) budget.

Following their meeting, Komorowski told a press conference that since Hollande became the President of France, the new friendship and cooperation process also are developing based on traditional friendship between the two countries, local media reported.

He also expressed satisfaction with Hollande’s visit in Poland during the discussion of the 2014-2020 EU budget which is in a tough but important time.

Hollande said France will work together with Poland towards accord on the new EU budget, will defend a solidarity-based budget solution and will not set Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) against Cohesion Policy.

France has rejected CAP restrictions in the latest 2014-2020 EU budget proposal presented by European Council President Herman Van Rompuy. However, France also declared readiness to strive for accord on the budget at next week’s EU summit.

Komorowski said they also had extensive exchanges in the field of national defense, as well as other areas of future cooperation.
