Kazakhstan and Poland to set up Association of Interregional Cooperation

Ambassador of Kazakhstan Yerik Utembayev attended the session of the Union of the Voivodeships of the Republic of Poland in Warsaw, Kazinform has learnt from the Kazakh MFA's press service.

The session mainly focused on the strengthening of interregional cooperation with Kazakhstan and the preparations for the I Kazakhstan-Poland Regional Forum, set to be held in September 2013 in Kazakhstan.

 

In his speech, Ambassador Utembayev informed the head of the Polish regions of the development of bilateral political and economic cooperation, favorable investment climate, positive experience of Polish companies working at the Kazakhstani market. "We are confident that the implementation of specific projects will have an impact on the development of interregional cooperation. We are thankful to Marshals (heads of the voivodeships) for all-round support of our initiative to hold the first ever bilateral regional forum in Kazakhstan," Y. Utembayev noted.

Marshal of WarmiƄsko-Mazurskie voivodeship Jacek Protas, in turn, reiterated Poland and its regions' interest in the expansion of cooperation with Kazakhstani partners. In his words, a delegation of the Union of the Voivodeships is planning to visit Kazakhstan as a part of the preparation process for the regional forum. In Kazakhstan, the heads of the Polish regions are hoping to meet with their colleagues, leadership of the Ministry for Regional Development and other government agencies, Polish diaspora and reps of the business circles keen to cooperation with Poland.

 

Upon results of the session, it was decided to create the Association of Interregional Cooperation between Kazakhstan and Poland that will include Jacek Protas and other Marshals, reps of the public development institutes and businessmen.
