New Foreign Policy Strategy of Georgia

Georgia and Azerbaijan have signed a document on cooperative political plans in 2009.

“Azerbaijan and Georgia have no political problems”, stated Georgian Minister of Foreign Affairs Grigol Vashadze after negotiations with his Azerbaijani colleague Elmar Mamedyarov held in Tbilisi.

“We discussed economic and humanitarian issues, Azerbaijan and Georgia have no political problems”, - noted Vashadze during joint briefing.

“Azerbaijan proved with its actions to be a strategic partner for Georgia” – specified Minister.

He informed, that during the meeting a document on cooperative political plans in 2009 was signed. Also they discussed the issues concerning the arrangement of the visits of Georgian Prime Minister Nikoloz Gilauri and the President Mikheil Saakashvili to Azerbaijan.

In his turn Azerbaijani Foreign Minister confirmed that their discussion covered mainly economic and humanitarian matters.

“It’s better to be good neighbors rather than produce troubles to neighbors”, - stated Azerbaijani Minister of Foreign Affairs.
  

 
Georgia and Armenia will formalize strategic relations

Georgia and Armenia will formalize their strategic relations, stated Georgian Minister of Foreign Affairs Grigol Vashadze during the interview to the TV company “Rustavi-2”.

“I believe this will happen pretty soon”, - he specified. According to Minister, strategic relations with Armenia will become an integral part of the new Foreign policy strategy of the country. The previous was developed three years ago for 2007-2009.

At the moment, Georgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs together with local experts developed new documents for 2009-2010. Previous documents included the USA, Turkey, Ukraine, Azerbaijan as strategic partners, as well in the future.
