President Atambaev received delegation of U.S. Congressmen

Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambaev today received a delegation of U.S. congressmen led by a member of the U.S. House of Representatives, Republican David Drier.

The delegation included - a member of the House of Representatives of the U.S. Congress, Democratic Party of Virginia, James Moran, a member of the U.S. House of Representatives, Republican Party, South Carolina, Joe Wilson, a member of the U.S. House of Representatives, Republican Party, Nebraska, Adrian Smith, a member of the House of Representatives U.S. Republican Party, Texas Kenny Marchant, U.S. Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan Pamela L.Spratlen, representative of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the U.S. Congress Robert Lawrence.

The delegation of U.S. congressmen arrived in Kyrgyzstan to o inaugurate a new partnership with the Jogorku Kenesh in the framework of the House Democratic Partnership, aimed at developing effective independent, and responsive legislative institutions worldwide.

The sides discussed prospects of cooperation between the parliamentarians of Kyrgyzstan and the United States.

The sides also exchanged views on the situation in Afghanistan and Central Asia. Congressmen thanked the leadership of the country for their contribution to the fight against terrorism and support for coalition forces in Afghanistan.
