MEP Vytautas Landsbergis considers that with respect to the decision of Austria to release Mikhail Golovatov, suspected in participation in the events of January i13th in Vilnius, they should address the European institutions urgently.
“What kind of the European Union member it is that such openly violates the European law, bag-playing to the third party” – he said for Lithuanian radio.
Meanwhile the MEP, conservator Radvile Morkunaite-Mikuleniene expressed an opinion in the message spread, that the decision of Austria could be influenced by the unwillingness to argue with Russia. “It is probably difficult to explain Austria that the colonel of KGB is defended by invisible long arm out of the EU borders and the fear to argue with the strategic energy partner who affects the ambitions of Austria as a distributive center of Russian gas in the EU” – the comments of the politician presented in the message.

According to her words, rapid decision of Austria shall not allow to promote in such an important matter for Lithuania.
“In the year of the 20th anniversary of the events of January 13th the relatives of those died, all who suffered and defended Lithuanian independence experienced a hard stroke - unexpected as Austria and Lithuania belong to one European Union, that declares the supremacy of law, solidarity and justice”, - said the conservator.
