Taken for 25 book challenge. I have caught a bug, travel bug. symptoms include restlessness and daydreaming. I keep reading travel books and have regressed to lonely planet guides of places I will never go.

The naked man festival (Brian Thacker) Is a decent read- I did get fed up of his constant use of brackets (its catching as I now need to include brackets in all my writing). the lucky SOB traveled around the world to festivals getting very drunk and having a blast. I could have done that! My fav festival was Hogmanay in scotland. None of the festivals that are on my personal must do list were visited but it was interesting and informative.

One of my other recent reads was Flightless. A collection of short travel stories put together by lonely planet. all the authors had completed journeys, some short, some long but all without flying. Travel by tuk-tuk, hitching, cycling walking. jealous of them all! great collection to pick through.

01 Nov 2001, Rolwaling Himal, Nepal --- Backpacker Mike Donohue takes a break for a breathtaking view on the Rolwaling Himal trek in the Nepali Himalayas, an infrequently travelled trek. Maoist rebels have made many of the popular treks unsafe. This remote trek crosses a 20,000 foot pass, and ends in Namche Bazaar. Trekking in Nepal brings is a combination of solitude and exertion, amidst breathtaking scenery, high mountains, and bring the hiker into harmony with his natural environment. --- Image by © Broudy/Donohue Photography/Corbis

Clouds over Aral Sea

byp posted a photo:

Distinctive lines of clouds stretch out from the shore of the Aral Sea in this photo-like image captured by the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on NASA’s Aqua satellite on March 12, 2009. While wave clouds like this are not unusual, this particular pattern over the Aral Sea is highly unusual. The clouds conform exactly to the shape of the western shore. (Source : NASA)
