Let us remind that the visit of the Czech Prime Minister and the EU Chairman to Azerbaijan took place on February 13th. The day before M.Topolanek held negotiations in Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan with the leaders of these countries. During the visit to Baku M.Topolanek had a meeting with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, the Prime Minister Artur Rasizade and visited the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
During the meeting the Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and M.Topolanek underlined the successful development of the two countries relations in various spheres, and the potential to promote economic cooperation, particularly, within the energy sphere – informs “Trend” referring to the state TV channel AzTV. The importance of the countries cooperation within the EU context was also clearly specified.
The meeting of the Azerbaijani President with the Czech Prime Minister during the Budapest summit for the gas pipeline “Nabucco” project, and the visit of Topolanek to Azerbaijan are significant for the establishment of clear directions to strengthen bilateral relations and to discuss the cooperation prospects. Also Topolanek held a tet-a-tet meeting with his Azerbaijani colleague – the Prime Minister Artur Rasizade. During the extended meeting with the both countries delegations Rasidaze noted that Azerbaijan gave special priority to the relations with the Czech Republic. The head of the Czech Government underlined the strategic importance of the cooperation between the states. Referring to the “Nabucco” project, Rasizade specified, that Azerbaijan intends to participate in the project and that the country had a developed infrastructure for this purpose. Moreover, according to ANS-Press, Mirek Topolanek awarded Karel Kramář medals to Azerbaijani diplomats and representatives of intellectual elite for their merits in promotion of bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and the Czech Republic. Among them: the Azerbaijani Minister of International Affairs Elmar Mamedjarov, the Ambassador of Azerbaijan to the Czech Republic Tair Tagizade, a dramatist-writer Rustam Ibragimbekov and the head of the Slavic University Kiamal Abdulla.
Meanwhile, M.Ahmedoglu recalled that, Azerbaijan is not simply a transiting country, but it possess own great hydrocarbons reserves. “In general, the both issues - “Nabucco” and Eastern Partnership is being successfully developed,” – considers the political analyst. In addition, he underlined that the opponents to the “Nabucco” project construction have stated repeatedly, that “they are ready to invest money into the pipeline construction, but at the same time Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan don’t intend to fill the “Nabucco” pipeline with gas.” “And today, M.Topolanek can positively respond that he has just come back from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan, and these countries are ready to provide their gas supplies”, - summarized M.Ahmedoglu.
