Kazakhstan's contribution to regional security marked NATO

The forum was attended by 340 parliamentarians from 28 countries.

 

In Dubrovnik, the Croatian was 59 Annual Session of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly , which was attended by the deputy of the Majilis of Abai Tasbulatov and Senator Mukhtar Altynbaev , the press service of the Majilis.

 

Covered a wide range of security issues , including NATO's cooperation with Central Asia , the Syrian crisis , the role of NATO in Afghanistan after the withdrawal of troops in 2014, the issues of strategic defense and more.

 

Given the relevance of the topics MPs participated in the work of the Committee of Defence and Security and the Political Committee , as well as at the final plenary session.

 

In the Committee of Defence and Security , in particular, noted the increasing strategic importance of Asia, including on security issues in the region. At the same time stressed that the war in Afghanistan has turned the Central Asian republics in the center of international attention. All states in the region are interested in the stability of Afghanistan and can make a significant contribution to achieve that goal.

 

At the same time expressed concern that the Central Asian countries show marked differences in economic development. Thus, almost all countries are facing serious security challenges , such as terrorism , ethnic conflicts , arms trafficking , as well as political and economic instability (Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan , Uzbekistan). The role of Kazakhstan in resolving the situation in Afghanistan through participation in humanitarian programs in Afghanistan and the presentation of transit through Kazakhstan.

 

The outcome of each section was to develop a strategy for the further presence of coalition forces in Afghanistan by maintaining a limited contingent , training and equipping local security forces to provide security.

 

NATO Secretary General AF Rasmussen highlighted the position that the conflict in Syria can not be solved by military intervention and called for a diplomatic solution to look for ways to Syrian crisis.

 

During the session , a number of bilateral meetings. At the talks with the President of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly H.Beyli was highlighted significant contribution of Kazakhstan to regional security and stability, as well as the fruitful cooperation of Kazakhstan on the transit of NATO cargoes from Afghanistan. The importance of the official visit of the Vice President of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly K.Lamersa in Kazakhstan in September last year.

 

And in a meeting with the Head of the Russian delegation S.Ozerovym discussed the crisis in Syria , the situation in Afghanistan , as well as issues of Kazakh-Russian inter-parliamentary cooperation in the military- political sphere. The importance of development and deepening of inter-parliamentary relations between Kazakhstan and Russia.

 

For each question on the agenda of the Standing Committee heard reports of experts with an analysis of the situation and appropriate resolution.
